The Flood Re Home insurance

flood prone homesThe insurance industry and the government agreed on a deal over flood-prone homes. It means that homeowners will be able to buy affordable flood home insurance under a scheme called Flood Re. This scheme means that those houses not covered by the Flood Re scheme could become uninsurable.

What is Flood Re?

Flood Re is an agreement, in principle between the government and the insurance industry, which aims to ensure homeowners and residents living in high flood risk areas.

How do I know if my home is affected?

The Flood Re scheme covers 350,000 households which the Environment Agency says are at high risk of flooding. You can use its interactive map to find out if your home is one of them.

Is anyone else excluded?

Homes built since 2009 are not covered and leasehold properties are also excluded.
