Property Insurance May Increase Under Senate Bill

As complex property insurance bill has been brought to the Florida Senate, lawmakers have heard many frightening figures about what would happen to the state after the hurricane. After the hurricane, there’s $9 billion in hurricane taxes, $100 billion in damages, and wreckage on family budget.

These numbers have been tackled during the debate over SB 1770. However, the cost of future premiums to individual property owners has been ignored until this week.

Insurance bill could increase more than 60% under the Senate bill in certain areas of the state which includes South Florida and Tampa Bay according to Citizen Property Insurance president Barry Gilway.
