Possible Prospect for Mercy Nursing Home Property

An unidentified developer expressed interest in acquiring and redeveloping the Mercy Care Center of Northern New York which is soon to be vacant.

It has been reported that they would not tell much about the prospect because “it would interrupt the flow of negotiations,” Donald W. Rutherford, CEO of the Watertown Local Development Corp. said.  He added afterwards “It’s good news because it would take us out as the middleman,”.

The development corporation has been worried about the fate of the complex. It vacates the property in the next few weeks and moves into the new 288-bed nursing home and assisted-living center on outer Washington Street, but as for now officials are still are waiting for word from the state on when the nursing home can close.
